Absolutely. In the square brackets you’ll see some placeholder text I think. That’s a whole section that I’m gonna add with an experiment I did on Parrish’s sci fi work. I use the very popular Dall-e, which is a product offered by OpenAi. You can find it with a simple Google search. I personally pay $14 US a month or so for the premium plan. But you can do so much with this tool for free.
I use the exact same command line prompt that everyone else does. And I’m going to show more about how this works in a subsequent update.
For better or for worse, I put stuff out there quickly as opposed to being meticulously perfectionist about it before I do.
I’m also planning a full length article about how I use AI called AI disclaimer where some of this is talked about. Spoiler alert: I use AI in certain limited during the concepting process if I have trained it very well. All of this will be elucidated in this potential upcoming article. In the meantime, I’m happy to answer any questions about it.
Already following you on Instagram and in Bluesky. If you want to be featured in my Sunday Castle festival of links (fantasy, sci-fi and horror), just tell me and I am adding Eathel the bastard next Sunday.
sam, this is a brilliant read, and i thank you for sharing your marketing and ai process in such an open and digestible way. i'm gearing up to launch my own (urban) fantasy serial soon, and have been gobbling up whatever tips and tidbits possible. i super appreciate that this is a living document for you that gets routinely updated.
major congrats on the 200+ subs!! for just being on substack a month?? that's incredible. what you're doing is clearly working for you, and i'm stoked, as a new follower, to see where things go from here on your journey!
That is so kind thank you. You should make a post describing your series in a few key points so I can comment on it in a more public place. Also, I'd just love an intro to your world!
Great idea but I have to say that AI cheapens your whole presentation. It sucks that theft is so blatantly flaunted and it looks that bad on top of it.
I wouldn't say it's a great idea if it cheapens the whole presentation and flaunts blatant theft and looks bad on top of it. Do you use images? How do you get people interested in stories?
Can I ask quelque chose? What program do you use for your images?
